Sam Langley-Swain
Sam was a regular exhibitor at Art on the Railings over 20 years ago, during his time as an art student at Chepstow Comprehensive. He attended nearly every year, well before the covers were introduced, when exhibitors had to rely on plastic sheeting in case of rain.
His passion for art was sparked by the encouragement he received from people who bought his early paintings. He was honoured to receive the Pam Banks Award for ‘Most Promising Local Young Artist’.
Having recently moved back to the area, this event holds strong sentimental value for Sam, and the opportunity to exhibit again means a great deal to him.

John Sherahilo
Alcohol Ink and mixed media painter. Alcohol Ink is an exciting, vibrant medium in the art world that allows a free flow of expression with a variety of techniques. The styles range from representational art that captures the natural world, to abstract art. The powerful colour, use of non-absorbent surfaces and ability to maintain a clear seal with varnish or resin have allowed ink art to attract an exclusive range of enthusiasts.
Jim Steele
Jim’s art was born from the inspiring landscapes of North Wales & Snowdonia. Once trained up in the North Wales School of Art, Wrexham, his work evolved and built up a body of work for over 20 years in the discipline of dip pen drawing with watercolour layers. Inspired by Alan Lee, Moebius, Chris Riddell, Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige, Jim’s ideas have elements of ancient mythology, science fiction, and natural forces. On every sheet, he wants to tell a story. He now also teaches in a growing artspace in Chepstow, and hopes to not only provide confidence to students, but also a sense of own-agency, control, and therapy through exploration of the medium.

Becky Brannigan
Becky discovered her passion for life drawing while pursuing a degree in Graphic Design. She finds the human form to be an endless source of wonder and beauty, and capturing it is, for her, a deeply satisfying and heartfelt gift. Becky continues to explore this passion through nudes and portraiture, working primarily with charcoal, chalk, pastel, ink, and pencil—mediums through which she feels she can best express herself.
Over the years, she has successfully completed private commissions and participated in a number of small gallery exhibitions and events. At the heart of her work lies a desire to evoke a positive emotional response, and she hopes viewers find as much joy in experiencing her art as she does in creating it.
