I have been involved with local community art projects for many years, both individually as an artist and as a team member.

Chepstow Festival of Art is an exceptional, inspirational art event for the artists exhibiting and the hundreds of visiting public. The opportunity to show and talk to people directly about their work gives the artist a unique networking experience. It helps with their confidence and expertise to continue their professional careers.

My role in the team is artistic direction, website developer and team leader for exhibiting artists. By helping and supporting the Chepstow Festival of Arts in their endeavour, I hope to give back to the community and help emerging artists have the platform they need to further their art careers.

My role in the team  is running the Artisan Craft in St Mary’s Church using  the skills I acquired whilst  teaching science to teenagers for 30 years. My organising, planning and people skills were essential for my success throughout that time.
In two of the previous years I was lead in the Youth Creativity Section of the Chepstow Festival of Art. I do not consider myself particularly creative which is why I am in awe of the talented people we have exhibiting with us each year and thoroughly enjoy being in their presence hoping to gain a little of their talent by osmosis.

Kim

I am a retired project manager with experience in both the private and public sectors. I have lived in Chepstow for seven years, and while I’ve attended the Chepstow Festival of Arts as a member of the public, this is my first year volunteering for the event.

In my role on the team, I am coordinating the Community Fete at Priory Green. This involves inviting local community groups and charities, managing the logistics of placing stalls in optimal locations, and ensuring there are plenty of activities for visitors to participate in. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

Jenny

Hi, I’m Jenny – founder of Find Yourself in Crafts. After many years working in health and social care, I discovered the powerful therapeutic benefits of arts and crafts. That experience inspired me to start a group dedicated to supporting mental health and wellbeing through creativity.

Find Yourself in Crafts brings people together to combat loneliness and isolation, offering a wide range of craft activities for everyone to enjoy. We’re based in Abergavenny but happy to connect with communities further afield.

I’m excited to be part of the Chepstow Festival of Arts, where I’ll be running the Youth Creativity section at the Palmer Centre. Drop in any time during the day to get hands-on with a variety of fun crafts – I’d love to see you there!
